The Town of Fletcher provides curbside recycling to all Town residents. This is a contracted service with Curbside Management of Asheville. This recycling program provides our residents with the easiest and most efficient way to recycle.
The Town provides each household with a 95-gallon blue recycling cart at no charge. Please prepare your recyclables following these guidelines: do not sort your items just place all recycling items directly into the cart; do not place anything inside a bag; empty all bottles, jars, cans, etc. but labels may remain on; flatten all corrugated cardboard and place under or beside your recycling cart; roll your cart to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled recycling day. This is a very easy program and can deliver great benefits if we all participate.
Items Which Can Be Recycled:
Plastic: Bottles, jugs, tubs, and jars used for food, beverages, or personal care items. Plastic caps should be screwed on. EXCEPTIONS: No black microwaveable trays, no styrofoam, no clam shells, no to-go containers, nor any plastic grocery bags are accepted.
Glass Bottles / Jars: Rinse glass containers, remove lids and rings. (Brown, Green and Clear)
Metal Cans: Aluminum, steel, tin, plus beverage cans.
Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard must be flattened and placed under or beside your cart.
Mixed Paper & Newspaper: Brown paper grocery bags, catalogs, cereal boxes (remove the plastic liner bag inside), greeting cards, construction paper, egg cartons made from cardboard, envelopes, frozen food boxes, glossy paper, junk mail, magazines, manila envelopes with clasps, newspapers and inserts, office-type papers, paperback books, paper towel rolls, Post-it notes, soda/beer cartons, toilet paper rolls.
What is NOT Recyclable?
Recycling Tips:
Prepare your recyclables properly by removing all lids (except screw-on caps which should remain on), flattening cardboard, only including items that are listed above, and rolling your cart to curbside by 7:00 am on your recycling day. Please place it a few feet away from your trash cart to help avoid confusion.
Please note: incorrect or improperly prepared materials will be left in your recycling cart.
If your recycling is not picked up or you have additional questions about what is/is not recyclable, please call our contractor Curbside Management at 828-252-2532 or via email at CustomerService@Curbie.com.
