Town of Fletcher, North Carolina

Floodplain Management

The Town of Fletcher is a participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  By establishing regulations governing development in FEMA designated floodplains, Fletcher property owners are able to purchase flood insurance through the NFIP program, regardless of whether or not they are located within the floodplain.  To inquire about obtaining such a policy, you would simply need to consult your insurance carrier.

For more information about FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, please visit:  www.fema.gov/business/nfip/.

Development within designated floodplains is regulated more strictly with the intent of protecting residents and business owners from flood damage.  More importantly, these rules are in place to protect from injury or loss of life during a flooding event.

Fletcher’s Flood Damage Protection Ordinance is a part of the Town’s Land Development Code (LDC). Please click here to view Appendix 1.
